What’s a good first step to get started with spring cleaning?

spring cleaning
MAR asked:

Hi there! I have a big and long spring cleaning list that I’d like to get a head start on. What’s a good first step? Any suggestions for specific chores you start with?
It’s never too early to start spring cleaning! That’s my take on it anyhow, I like to start at the first “sign” of spring, it doesn’t HAVE to be past March 21 to get going!

Hi, I start with cleaning the windows inside and out.
Just use 1/4 cup white vinegar, 1 tbl. cornstarch, and 2 cups warm water. Mix the ingredients in a spray bottle and shake well to dissolve cornstarch. Spray liberally onto glass surface. Wipe dry with a clean cloth or crumpled up newspaper, buffing to a streak-free shine.
Then take things off the walls, and wipe down with sudsy hot water.
Dust around,lights/ceiling vans, vacuum, and carpet clean. Shake all other rugs outside, or beat them with a broom.
Also clean around the baseboards before you vacuum.
Buy some spring flowers put them in the middle of the kitchen table, to remind you that it will soon be good weather again. ;) Hope that helps, take care. :) That should do it. I also clean the refrigerator out.

Start at the top and work your way down. If you have 2 stories, start with the ceilings/fans upstairs, then windows and walls, then floor and furniture on it. Just chase the dirt outside lol.

And I too, have started my spring cleaning, ignore the naysayers, lol I’ll never enjoy visiting a dirty house XD I think it’s better to do it when it’s still a bit chilly out, cause when it warms up, you know you want to be outside playing in the yard or working on a garden, or container plants!

First things first, you have to have a plan of action. If you go into each room, with out deciding what you are going to do in there before hand, you’re bound to miss something. Write it out. Having a check list helps organize your thoughts, and what you want to do. I’m going to start with the living room, actually half of the living room. Our living room is big enough to pass a two room.
