How do you keep up with cleaning and running your household?
azure asked:
I feel like I’ve always got too many things to do everyday, that I never catch up or complete all that I want to. I have 2 toddlers and a baby, and it feels like all I do is clean, do laundry, prepare meals, and put kids in time-out all day; and my house still looks like crap.

I thought I’d keep to a schedule I write up, so the deep cleaning gets done, rather than just the picking up of daily messes.

How would you like to go to work also, like some women do. And come home and take care of the house. It’s a losing battle.

Check out a book called The House That Cleans Itself by Mindy Starns Clark. I randomly picked it up one day at Fry’s Marketplace, and it’s totally inspiring. The author had the same issues / frustrations you’re describing, but managed to change her ways exactly how you’re suggesting…by keeping a schedule for cleaning and maintenance.
I bought the book at a grocery store so I can’t imagine it’s hard to find… Here’s her site so you know what to look for:
I live with my boyfriend and two dogs and we have a rough time “keeping house”…so I can only imagine with three little ones!! Hopefully this book can help you. Good luck!!

It’s hard for you because of your small children, so you’re really busy with them, meals, toys, spills and messes etc….
What I do is make sure I have no clutter of any kind. I give it away because I can’t stand it when my house is messy - drives me crazy. I use storage bins for toys, hats, mittens, boots, and when I make a meal I make enough for leftovers for the next day to save time. Whenever I start a big project like painting a room, I make sure I have something in the freezer for meals and have the laundry up-to-date. I also teach my kids to pick up after themselves even though I have to say it a million times a day.
